The Journey to Croptime. . .

OK When Laura announced she was going to close Croptime, or possibly sell, Tina and I were immediately on the phone. Our conversation went something like this:

Tori: I can't believe it!

Tina: That was our girl time together once a year! I'm sooo bummed about this.

Tori: Let's buy it.

Tori: Tina? Are you there? Tina?

I knew she was still on the phone- I could hear the shallow breathing coming in puffs over the line. So she was 7 months pregnant. So her husband just got word of a transfer from Vancouver, WA to Barstow, CA and she was looking at being alone for the remainder of her pregnancy with a two year old and a really overweight cat. I mean, so?!

Okay, it took a little convincing.

Okay, a lot of convincing. But, after she saw the light (in the form of having a beautiful baby girl, hubby finding a Washington based company to work for, and buying a house with room to stretch), she was on board.

Scrap Back-story:

Tina has been scrapping since her son Ander was born, 3 years ago. Her husband Jason has been supportive (read between the lines: no idea how much sb materials really cost) and even put in custom cabinets and counters in Tina's very own craft room. Lucky for Jason the room was a step down from the wing it looked like Tina would eventually need.

I have been collecting scrapbook materials for 6 years now. It sat in a drawer with some Creating Keepsakes magazines in order to age to perfection like fine wine. The fact that I loved the idea of putting all those family pics in fun, creative layouts was no match for the fact that I had no idea how to go about it. The rest is all Tina's fault.

When Tina's pal for the Hood River retreat was unable to go I jumped right up and said I would love to go to a scrapper?s retreat. The only problem was that I was a VSB (virgin scrapbooker). After asking Tina some questions: What is cardstock? And the printed paper goes on the cardstock? I was ready to roll.

Although I'm not so sure that each retreat shouldn't begin with each of us standing up and saying, "Hi, my name is____ and I'm addicted to scrapbooking," and maybe we should each get a gold coin if we can go 30 days without checking out the newest paper, I'm happy to say that I LOVE this hobby.

Tina, Tori and CropTime:

We have been friends since junior high. Through moves, college, marriages, kids and jobs we have only grown closer. The corny cliche is that we are as close as sisters, but, corny or not, it's
true.

We are so excited to continue the business Laura began. Rest assured, the quality and idea behind Croptime will remain consistent. We will be working with Laura over the next several months on bringing you fantastic retreats, opening up new venues and keeping the chocolate stock at a level that any chocoholic would approve.

Cheers and good cropping,

Tori
